Today in my News Writing class a member of the baseball team was out of dress code. It was considerably cold outside and he wore sweatpants and a jacket so not a huge violation. The teacher did not say anything and he was not nervous about what he was wearing. It seems like the Athletes are getting more testy and the teachers are becoming more lenient.

Nov. 7th in Chapel I decided to observe the mens and women’s soccer team to see how they dressed for Chapel. The Women’s soccer team was all in dress code and I think this observation applies most or all the time. The mens soccer team had about half of its members out of dress code and as a side-note, they seemed rather disrespectful and loud. Some of the Mens team also decided to leave early during president Rutland’s preaching.

Today in media law and ethics a basketball player was out of dress code and it was in one of the pictures I uploaded earlier. He was wearing basketball shorts and this is definitely a violation of dress code. This is the testiest I’ve seen of a student athlete so far. I’m not sure if the teacher noticed but she didn’t say anything to the student and he was able to continue like nothing was wrong. The student athletes may have more power than we know.

In Chapel today there were an array of athletes sitting in the back of the auditorium out of dress code. Their RA’s sitting along side them have little to no control over what they are wearing. I don’t know if its because they are intimidated or scared but they don’t seem to call out the athletes and their violations to the dress code. There were mens basketball players, women’s basketball players, soccer and baseball players and at least one in every group were out of dress code.
Pictures
I recently uploaded two pictures earlier.
The pictures show two athletes, one basketball player, and one baseball player.
The pictures were in two separate classes and one class was morning and the other in the afternoon.
The teachers did not call out either of the students and they were able to go about their day out of dress code.
